Rémy: Continuing with 15 GISCs playing the same role is a mess and proposed to have GISCs with different functions
Enrico: GISC not providing access to data is not a GISC. If we change functions of a GISC we should change the name.
Discussion raised about the Area of Responsibility (AoR) of GISC. It seems with the new topology, the AoR is partially failed
Timo: How can we imagine that a GISC is providing support without having any connection with the NCs?
Rémy: There is two angles, a technical and a political one, Let’s focus on technical part first.
Jeremy: shall we have data in the messages?
Rémy: For small and urgent messages, data are included in the message. We need to define what is small messages
Baudouin: It’s not only a question of the size, we need to consider the number of messages. He proposed that the size of small message should not not to be more than 200 bits
Rémy: Subscription can be on the GISC but download should be from the producer
Enrico: Be consistent when we communicate about WIS2 in a BOX and WIS2 node.
Rémy: in Peter presentation it seems that there a big link between messaging and downloading, It should be clarified.
Timo: Proposed to start from WIS1 and GTS analysis to identify the gaps and propose the good architecture
Hassan: We agree that the best way is to reduce the number of GISCs. I propose to have Four GISCS with the complete role(collect, distribute, discover data …). The others can paly the role of global monitoring ( Global monitoring centers) and metadata role ( Global WIS2 catalogue centers)
Kenji: Consider data policy
Rémy: Worry to end with 15 GISCs, hope to find the best way to reduce the number of GISCs. He proposed that in the next months we will have the WIS2 in a box implemented in some countries (Malawi …), Then we can set up redundant and resilient brokers in the cloud (to be fund by Secretariat for a test period first and then by volunteers)
Enrico: We had a good discussion with different views and some ideas. I will prepare some slides about GTS issues for the next meeting.
Rémy: I will provide some options to what is presented by Peter.
