TO discuss the wis2 implementaiton.

Pilot project: WIS2.0 in a box. All the tools in a single system will be deployed in a cloud.

WIS monitoring pilot

Kai and Jeff present the TT ToR and current status.

Enrico: WDQMS to monitor quality.

NWPC provide statistics of data used.

Aim of WISMonitoring to provide statistic of data exchange and data available on the network.

WIS2.0 implementation: WIS2.0 will replace GTS. A tool is needed to monitor the transition from GTS to WIS2.0. Data will be released. Statistics are needed before NWP models use the data.

Monitoring GTS-WIS2.0 data provides a way to monitor new types of data.

Kai: what to monitor? And then to read the data and generate reports from that. What information to be put into csv files?

Jeff: WDQMS is about what we receive. What the centers are receiving and what they are using.

A separate monitoring is needed.

• Kai: reuse the visualization; add more gisc centers to the currrent four monitoring centers (JMA; ECMWF; NCEP; DWD)

• Enrico: to add not only NWP centers. Open the technique to other centers.

• Jeff: WDQMS name change?

• Enrico: wis monitoring is not going to monitor variables but messages.

• Hassan: wis2 architecture, including strategy for transition. Need to monitor the presence of messages tranferred via WIS2.0.

• Enrico: wis2.0: not to use the same file names. To clear up the unpractical rules in wis2.0. No same network topology. WIS2.0 will not have the same messages as GTS. So, a good monitoring is needed.

• Hassan: we will use wis2 in a box to disseminate data, csv2bufr converter, data quality is monitored too.

• Timo: WIS2.0 implementation and GBON implementation will be in next year. WDQMS is every 6 hour, but wis2 monitoring will be more real time.

• Kai: data dump is not difficult, but what to be dumped is to be decided.

• Enrico: to start with a few centers and then to extend to other centers.

Enrico: to target to action the following items, to reach an agreement on:

1. frequency of the monitoring

2. format to be exchanged

Enrico: to ask Critiano to think about making a statistics of the data. ECMWF to take care of the data analysis (bufr, grib…)

Kai: it is welcome to work together on GitHub (including the data format)
