Briefing on the changes from WMO Secretariat

• Hassan Haddouch and David Berry will join the WMO Secretariat.

• David will be supporting this team.

• It is proposed to have a meeting in the near future to involve David to support the team.

• The guidance of the document will be either in the WIS guide or be another document. This will be submitted to the INFCOM session in March 2022.

• It is possible for Hassan to review the document.

• Creation/Representation and Metadata/Processing/Publication/exchange

  • William: also include quality control, quality assurance process

• Data such as original measurement will be helpful, which can not be disposed

• Both documents are complementary.

• Question, how do we want to present to our reader? how to structure the information on lifecycle to get the readers into the right direction

• how do we make the consensus? Is it General/high-level or only for WMO purpose? Do we take the capabilities of national/regional level?

William echoes the questions

• add an introductory paragraph

• agrees on the general level for the document in an overarching way

• The place of the document will determine the context of being general or specific to WMO

• Share the Information Management session from the Manual on WIS (https://library.wmo.int/doc_num.php?explnum_id=10141#page=43) and Guide to the WMO (https://library.wmo.int/doc_num.php?explnum_id=10257#page=70)

Discusison on a seperate document or be integrated into WIS manual/guide

• Sebbari, Peng, William all propose this document to be a seperate document, not to be included in the guide to WIS.

• William mentioned that the appendencies will be attached to the document.

• Axel also agrees this document to be a seperate one.

• Tim leans also towards to a seperate one.

General or Specific

• William: focus on Members but to be general whenever possible

• Axel: principles and best practices are described in the introduction

• Anna: add planning into the creation session (long-term data management, data archive place)

Technical level gradually expands with time, if so, can we do that via apendices.

Retension plan will depend on the data type.
