Cloud-native geospatial architecture
Chris Holmes is the first visiting fellow at OGC. His background is geospatial and very much looking at things from a (software) engineering perspective. He founded OpenGeo which became Boundless Spatial, then bought by Planet. He’s also a Technical Fellow at Radiant.Earth, an NGO funded by the Gates Foundation to improve discovery of data and geospatial capacity for global development objectives. Personally - I think he’s got a lot to say that’s worth listening to.
In our thoughts about what WIS 2.0 may look like, we know that (geospatial) data discovery is an essential element, and we often talk about leveraging the cloud.
Chris Holmes has written two blogs on “cloud-native geospatial architecture” that summarise his work at the OGC in the second half of 2021. I think they provide useful insight that we can leverage in developing WIS 2.0:

Worth a read.
