Tunisia: RS Data Missing block number

Goal: To add the block number at the stations - changing a default in the setup

Background:

  • Two stations from Tunisia have missing Block numbers in BUFR: 60715 and 60760.  They are sending 309057 data now.

  • CCCC is DTTA (Tunis/Carthage)

  • TTAAii is IUSD01 and IUKD01 (I Observational data (Binary coded) – BUFR; U: Upper­air data; SD:Saudi Arabia;KD:not found)

  • Data Designators decode as: T1 (I): Observational data (Binary coded) - BUFR T1T2 (IU): Upper air T1T2A1 (IUS): Radiosondes/pibal reports from fixed land stations (entire sounding) A2 (D): 90°E - 0° northern hemisphere (link)

  • The IUKD01 TTAAii Data Designators decode (2) as: T1 (I): Observational data (Binary coded) - BUFR. T2 (U): Upper air. A1 (K): Radio soundings from fixed land stations (up to 100 hPa) TEMP (parts A, B). A2 (D): 90°E - 0° northern hemisphere.

  • The IU[KS]D02 reports from DTTA started on 2021-11-23.

    The IU[KS]D01 reports from DTTA started over a year ago.

    The 'noout' values in the table below indicate that none of them have been decoded -

    presumably all because of the missing block number, but I can't be sure of this.

  • Example attached.

     

  • Because of the missing block (should be 60), the BUFR data are not passed to the NWP system at ECMWF

  • Goal: To add the block number at the stations - changing a default in the setup. 

How to track the issue:

  • Tunisia National Institute of Meteorology NMC → Casablanca

  • Open a GISC Ticket Issue, assign to GISC Casablanca to contact Tunisia
