CGMS/WMO Cloud Workshop

Basic Information

Cloud is a term that has gained widespread use over the last few years.

With the exponential increase in data use, it is becoming more and more difficult for individuals and organizations to keep all of their vital information, programs, and systems up and running on in-house computer servers.

Using different services, cloud technology offers more benefits than traditional systems. Data access anytime anywhere benefits, cost saving benefits, mobility benefits, scalability, agility, efficiency, and security are some of benefits offered by cloud systems. Cloud can be used as service rather than hardware-based computing, it is cost effective and can be used like utility.

The aim of this workshop is to provide a forum for discussion and debate on the cloud technology best practices and the techniques used for data access and distribution using the cloud platform.

Objectives:

  • Introduce the use of cloud facility

  • Share information about cloud technology

  • Develop cross-project collaboration

  • Discuss cloud-based dissemination in alignment with and influence WIS 2.0 within the realm of the architecture of clouds, cyber security, cloud to cloud interaction, and cloud data formats•

  • Provide cloud guidance and best practices in the following areas:

o data distribution

o Storage

o Processing

o Security
