  • 02/18: an email to Tunisia NFP on WIS matters

    • Issue: It is reported by ECMWF colleagues that Radiosonde BUFR data from two stations in Tunisia are missing the block number.

      • Block number is missing (snapshot as below) (I also attach BUFR data for your reference)

    • Station information is shown below:

      • CCCC is DTTA

      • Station Number 1: 60715

      • Station Number 2: 60760

      • TTAAii is: IUSD01 & IUKD01 

        • The IU[KS]D02 reports from DTTA started on 2021-11-23.

        • The IU[KS]D01 reports from DTTA started over a year ago.

    • Request: Could you please help add the block number into the BUFR? Only in this way, the BUFR data can be used for further processing in NWP models.

  • 03/11: feedback from Mr Ahmed (in French):

    • To check with IBL software (vendor) for assistance to figure out whether it is related to the migration to the new message switch which has been in operation since the end of November 2021

    • correct BUFR messages from both 60715 and 60760 have never been received

    • maybe it is a problem with PC settings at the stations

    • so the problem has been around for a long time, no complaints were received before this issue was reported recently

    • to review the station configuration

    • good BUFR data from both radiosonde stations

    • problem: various BUFR messages for the same ascents - more than necessary

    • recommendation: to use template 309057 (with as many levels as possible)
